Thongchai told the assembled press that Thai Port's aim is to defend the title and to stop Buriram completing a clean sweep of this season's domestic trophies. Coach Thong went on to state that although the Port players are inferior in quality to their Buriram counterparts, he believes that the mental strength of our squad and the support from our fans can help guide us to victory.
The winners of the Toyota League Cup Final will receive 5,000,000 baht in prize money plus the chance to represent Thailand in the Toyota Premier Cup vs J-league side Vegalta Sendai on February 18th at Suphachalasai Stadium.

Thai Port's website have it down as a 5pm kick-off. TLO have it as 5:30. I'd be inclined to believe TLO. If you're going, get there early just to be sure.
ReplyDeleteGeez, the final only just got played in time to have the Toyota Prem Cup! Suppose if it didn't get played in time we could have just entered a Buriram Utd / FC / Port side to play, and that would been fine of course.
ReplyDeleteThey really do see no shame in appealing to a blokes most basic instinct don't they.......Chairman of Toyota, National team manager, Gov of Sport and Miss Thailand!! Really?! I suppose she was there to provide her in depth analysis of the juxtaposition of the two teams taking part and their future in the game.
If by some miricle we won this thing and the 5mill, I would demand a full itemised and accounted for list as to where every penny of that money goes.
I must be one hell of an optimist or probably just biased but I do hold a glimmer of hope, with a bit of luck too (which by god we seem to have in this comp), we may just do this!!
Have the squad even been training for the last month or so? without pay or jobs next year I would doubt this? Is Fab available?
I reckon Miss Thailand could probably run the FAT better than the current mob ;).
ReplyDeleteYou'd like to hope that the 5,000,000 would go straight to the players. There was some mention in the article about the players getting a loyalty bonus, but I didn't completely understand it.
I agree...It's a one off game - anything can happen. Both league games were reasonable tight affairs, although they won both matches (1-0). First goal is key. We didn't lose a game in 2011 during which we scored the first goal!
They've been training as normal, plus the obligatory friendlies. We beat a Muangthong trialists team 2-0 earlier in the week, and are a playing a Division 2 team today.
Ney Fabiano hasnt signed yet. The deal is on hold. Not sure he'd be eligible even if he had signed.
