Two more gone

TLO are reporting that Mongkol Namnuad (pictured below) and Todsapol Lated are set to join/have joined Muangthong United. Rumours have been rife that both players would be making the switch to Yamaha Stadium along with Ekkapoom Potharungroj. There is, however, no mention of Ekkapoom in the piece.

The article goes on to confirm the departures of Moudourou Swa-Moise, Munze Ulrich, Kim Dong Chan and Valci Junior. Again, no mention of Jacob Aikhionbare. It also states that Ney Fabiano's proposed move to PAT Stadium is on-hold until after the Toyota League Cup Final.

  1. Maybe I should start paying more attention to these twitter rumours. They seem to be rather accurate!

I reckon our Cup Final team will look something like this (if no one else leaves before Feb 4th).

    GK: Wanlop
    RB: Wisarut
    LB: Thongchai K
    CB: Mario
    CB: Ittipol
    DM: Kiatjareon
    RM: Ekkapoom
    LM: Robbo
    CM: Kim BW
    CM: Worawut
    CF: Sarawut

    SUB: Narong (GK)
    SUB: Kay
    SUB: Pakpoom
    SUB: Nattapol
    SUB: Santhipap
    SUB: Sivakorn
    SUB: Phudit

  2. Ridiculous!!! WTF? Really?? Not at all the 2011 team. Why bother?

  3. We can just about field a half-decent starting XI. Any more departures (particularly defenders), and we're in big big trouble against the might of Buriram PEA/FC/United. It's definitely going to be a 'David vs Goliath' Cup Final!

The hardest part will be playing three teams.

Other than Moise and Todsapol at the back that is pretty close to the team we played with most of the second half of the season, if both Robb and Ekkapoom can turn it on that who knows, I think maybe Kay as the other centre back though and Phudit instead of Worawut, as it would be nice to go with an attacking intent and Sarawut can play in midfield to be the extra man if needs be, having him as the striker would be rather akin t have a 6 man midfield.

In this game I'm expecting to be kicked in the balls so if I only get a punch in the face that it will be a result, getting off with just a chinese burn and I'll be happy as larry!

  5. It seems as though Todsapol and Mongkol might actually be able to play. That would solve the central defender conundrum. If he doesn't, then it's Kay or Ittipol. I'd go with Ittipol. He was a good centre-back when I first started watching Port, and he's been converted into an average full-back. The problem with those two + Mario is that they've got no pace.

I reckon Wisarut might be the weak link in the team. He looked decent in a few of the games, but was torn to shreds against Samut Songkhram and Sri Racha. Buriram's left winger, Acheampong, could have a field day. Whoever plays right-wing for us will have to do plenty of tracking back. Sounds like a job for Sarawut! It's just a shame we haven't got any more options up-front. I don't rate Phudit at all.

I'll be watching the game through the cracks in my fingers! I'm not expecting us to win...but who knows? Anything can happen in football.

  6. Looks like Port is "bringing a knife to a gunfight."
