Friendly: Bangkok Glass 2 - 1 Thai Port

A Thai Port XI lost 2-1 to Bangkok Glass at LEO Stadium earlier today. Pongpipat Kamnuan scored a 20-yard free kick to give Port the lead, but BG hit back with second half goals from Samuel Ajayi and Peerapong Pichitchotirat to secure the victory.

The Port team had something of a retro feel to it. The returning Pongpipat played alongside PAT stalwarts Kay Langkawong, Kiatjareon Ruangparn, Ittipol Nonsiri, Teerawut Sanphan and Olan Limsumpansanthi. The latter two haven't made a competitive appearance for the club since the 2009 FA Cup Final, in which they both scored during the penalty shootout.

Recent signings Olof Hviden-Watson and Whoo Hyun also took part in the game, along with the likes of Ekkapoom Potharungroj, Wanlop Sae-Jiu and Sivakorn Chakuprasat, plus a few trialists. One of them, Bruno, was praised by Jedsada Na Phattalung during a post match interview. I hope he's a striker! (update - he is)

There are a few match photos here. I think Bruno is the geezer with his sleeves rolled up.

  1. BG's first goal was very reminiscent of Sri Racha's first goal as against us in the game at PAT Stadium. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The keeper shouldn't rush out of the penalty area unless he's 100% certain to get the ball.

You gotta love Pongpipat. Hard as nails, that lad. Shinpads are for wimps*!

I recognise some of the players, as it seems that they were playing with their usual number Kiatjaroen 27, ekkapoom 8 so who was the guy wearing robb's 15 as he certainly didn't look like Robb and he was nowhere to be seen, any ideas?

  3. I don't recognise quite a few of our players. That's a bit worrying! I think we had a few trailists and youngsters playing. The numbering our shirts looks a bit random. A few players were wearing their normal number, others were not. Robbo is in Scotland at the moment. He's due back in Bangkok at the weekend. I presume that Mario and Ba-We are too!?

    2. 555 They're both Loch Ness monster aficiandos. I heard they've spent two weeks camped on the loch bank looking for Nessie, surviving on deep fried mars bars and irn bru! ;p

  4. That looked like one way traffic at times!! Still only a friendly I suppose.

Delighted to see we got a free kick taker, we've lacked any quality from set pieces ever since Jirawat left. Anything is better than Worawut being anywhere near a set piece, how he got to take most last season was unbelievable, he was crap at them.

Is the pitch at the LEO artificial, it certainly looked it from this video?

    1. I'm hoping it was biased editing! Yeah, they have that 4G astroturf stuff at the LEO. I've only ever played on the astroturf that resembles sandpaper. I still bear the scars!

  5. I think there is Narat on the picture. He is former BEC Tero and played last year with Chiang Rai last year.

    1. Is that Narat Munin-noppamart? I definitely recognise him, but couldn't put a name to the face. Thanks Felix!
